Each Friday one of our members get an opportunity to share a little (5 - 15 minutes) about themselves, their businesses and more. Their business is our Spotlight Business of the Week.
Speakers are chosen on a voluntary basis with the hope that each member business will have the opportunity to speak in the rotation.
It's an excellent chance for the speakers to share information and practice their presentation skills. For the rest of us, its a chance to listen, ask questions and learn from our fellow members.

Long-Range Planning & Goals
Written Goals
S.M.A.R.T. Goals are:
Simple,
Measureable,
Achievable,
Realistic, and
Timely
7 Habits as outlined by Stephen Covey in "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" include:
- Be Proactive... Speak first, use positive language, be optimistic, expect good.
- Begin with the End in mind... Consider the outcome of your actions. Look toward the eventual result.
- First things First... Prioritize; look at what's important vs what's loudest. Manage your time.
- Seek Win-Win situations... Make interactions beneficial for all. Seek alignment. Find third alternative.
- Seek first to Understand, then to be understood... Become an active listener. Be conscious about absorbing what you hear.
- Synertgize... The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Power by multiplication rather than addition.
- Sharpen the Saw... Engage in constant improvement. Repeat, making small improvements as you go.
Mission Statements
Both personal and business. Serious look at what you are doing, and what you want to be doing.
Steps:
- Write a list of your roles in life
- Write a list of your goals for each role
- Write a complete sentence about each item
- Compose a concise short statement the incorporates all those sentences
- Fold in half and put it away in the desk drawer for a month
- Review and edit
- Repeat several times until it says who you are and what you do
Mentoring
Credit early teachers; mention teaching child to build a kite.
- Be a teacher
- Be a student
- Be curious
- Seek knowledge
Affirmations - positive statements
Short, Simple, Repeatable "I'm getting better at remembering names"
Positive Language
"With Pleasure" instead of "No Problem"
Last, a definition:
"Luck is the intersection of readiness and opportunity."
