PowerTipps Spotlight Business

Each Friday one of our members get an opportunity to share a little (5 - 15 minutes) about themselves, their businesses and more. Their business is our Spotlight Business of the Week.

Speakers are chosen on a voluntary basis with the hope that each member business will have the opportunity to speak in the rotation.

It's an excellent chance for the speakers to share information and practice their presentation skills. For the rest of us, its a chance to listen, ask questions and learn from our fellow members.

John Corcoran, RE/Max by the Lake

John spoke about two things that are near and dear to his heart. The Real Estate Market and ElderHelp.

Real Estate: We are experiencing a bit of a soft Real Estate market but this IS the time to buy if you can. The Median price of a home (year to year - 2007 to 2008) is down 4.7% from $209K to $200K. Prices are down & borrowing rates are low.

ElderHelp: John gave a brief history on the program from it's meager beginnings in 1995 to date. A former PowerTipps member, Tom Lucas, is now President of the Board for ElderHelp. ElderHelp is looking for volunteers to lend a hand in many of their support areas. Cutting, splitting and delivering wood for home heating, assisting with repairs, purchase and placement of access ramps and a recent program called ElderCompanion to name a few.

So many projects are needed by our area's Seniors. Many are trying to exist on monthly amounts that don't support housing and food, let alone utilities and other items that we might consider essentials. If you think you might be able to lend a hand, contact John. Your help will be much appreciated!
